Weak Cold Front to Bring Weather Shift on Saturday

Austria is set for one more midsummer day on Friday, with temperatures reaching as high as 33°C. A weak cold front will then bring a noticeable change on Saturday, according to Geosphere Austria, with showers and lower temperatures.

Friday will begin with residual cloud and isolated light rain in the north and east, but sunshine will spread quickly. Most other areas should remain almost entirely sunny, apart from thin cloud or isolated morning fog. Highs will range from 27°C to 33°C.

Saturday will start fairly sunny and dry in the south and southeast. Clouds linked to the cold front will reach the northern side of the Alps, followed by showers. The disturbance will move southeast during the day, while rain will last longer near the main Alpine ridge. Some showers, locally accompanied by thunderstorms, may also develop farther south. Temperatures will peak between 21°C and 28°C.

After residual clouds and morning fog clear on Sunday, bright sunshine is expected nationwide. Showers and thunderstorms should remain rare, with highs from 21°C to 29°C. Monday will stay mostly sunny in the east, while western areas may see more cloud and a rising risk of showers and thunderstorms in the mountains, particularly from Vorarlberg to Upper Carinthia.
