Weather Alert: Rain and Storms Expected During Pentecost Mini-Holiday

Romania is bracing for a weekend of unsettled weather as the Pentecost mini-holiday coincides with June 1st celebrations. Atmospheric instability, characterized by rain and wind, is expected across most regions, according to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM).

Throughout the Pentecost mini-holiday and June 1st, there will be prolonged but scarce periods of rain, mainly in the afternoon and evening, in the mountains, in the southeastern part, and very likely also in the northwestern part of the country.

Meteorologists predict intermittent rain, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, in the mountains, southeastern, and northwestern parts of the country. Sunday is set to see more significant atmospheric disturbances, including showers, thunderstorms, and brief wind intensifies in mountainous areas, eastern and southeastern regions, and scattered areas in the center.

Monday, June 1st, will bring more organized rain across most of the country. While temperatures will see daily variations, they are expected to remain within the normal range for this time of year. The coast will also experience rain periods, though not continuously.

On Sunday, we will have more atmospheric instability, namely showers, electrical discharges, short-term wind intensifications, in the mountains, in the eastern and southeastern parts, and in restricted areas in the center.

Two yellow code warnings and an advisory for wind intensification are in effect until Saturday evening for many regions. Gusts could reach 50-70 km/h in Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova, and northern Dobrogea, with higher speeds of 70-90 km/h in the Curvature Carpathians and eastern Southern Carpathians. Similar wind conditions are forecast for Saturday in several regions, including mountainous areas.

On Monday, there will be more organized rain. We are talking about periods with rain in most regions.

Bucharest can expect fair weather with variable clouds and temporary wind intensifications on Friday and Saturday.

It doesn't mean it will rain continuously, but there will be periods with rain during this Pentecost mini-holiday.
