West Aceh Police Arrest Fisherman Suspected of Distributing 751 Grams of Marijuana

Authorities in West Aceh, Indonesia, have arrested a 38-year-old fisherman suspected of being a dealer of dried marijuana. The suspect, identified by the initial A, was apprehended at his home in Pasie Mesjid Village, Meureubo District.

According to the Head of the West Aceh Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKP Shandy, the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. During the operation, police discovered four medium-sized packages and 14 small packages of dried marijuana, all wrapped in rice paper and ready for distribution. The total gross weight of the seized marijuana amounted to 751 grams.

Currently, the suspect has been detained by us for further legal process.

To conceal the illicit substance, the suspect reportedly hid the marijuana inside a rice sack within his residence. AKP Shandy stated that the suspect is currently in detention for further legal proceedings. The seized evidence will be sent to the Forensic Laboratory Center of the Indonesian National Police in Medan, North Sumatra, for testing as part of the prosecution process.

Police are conducting intensive investigations and developing leads to identify other individuals involved in the drug trade within the jurisdiction of the West Aceh Police. "We are still continuing to develop [the investigation] to hunt down the network or major dealers above them who supply this haram [forbidden] item," Shandy added, indicating a focus on dismantling larger trafficking operations.
