West Jakarta KPU Holds Coktas to Update 2026 Voter Data

The West Jakarta Election Commission (KPU Jakbar) has initiated a limited voter data verification process, known as Coktas, to update the voter registry for 2026. This initiative employs a door-to-door methodology to ensure the accuracy and validity of voter information.

Endang Istiyanti, the head of KPU Jakarta Barat, explained that the Coktas aims to update the voter data in West Jakarta, specifically targeting 179 individuals categorized as 'non-matching voters' and 'overseas voters.' The verification covers voters across eight sub-districts and 42 urban villages within West Jakarta. The process is under the direct supervision of the West Jakarta City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu). Abdul Roup, the Coordinator for Prevention, Public Participation, and Public Relations at Bawaslu Jakarta Barat, emphasized the critical importance of continuous factual validation to prevent the creation of fictitious data.

Field findings have indicated the presence of unrecognized voters, underscoring the necessity of removing ineligible voters (TMS) to prevent manipulation of voting rights. Furthermore, Coktas is expected to safeguard the voting rights of Indonesian citizens residing abroad. "We hope this routine Coktas will result in a clean and accurate Final Voter List (DPT)," Abdul added, highlighting the goal of achieving more synchronized and precise voter data in the future.
