West Java Forecast: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Expected for Next Week

West Java, Indonesia, faces a week of potential heavy rainfall and strong winds, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Bandung. From May 25 to May 31, 2026, the province can expect moderate to heavy downpours, accompanied by brief, localized gusts of wind.

BMKG Bandung's acting head, Edi Wibowo, explained that warm sea surface temperatures and high humidity levels in the atmosphere contribute to this forecast. "The potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning, thunder, and strong winds, which can occur locally and for short durations, is present in several areas," he stated on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Despite the forecast not indicating extreme conditions for the entire period, the public is urged to stay alert. The BMKG emphasizes that weather can change rapidly, potentially leading to disasters such as severe rain, strong winds, floods, landslides, and fallen trees. Authorities advise residents to remain calm, recognize local risks, stay updated on weather information, and follow evacuation protocols if necessary.
