West Java governor bans wedding receptions on provincial roads

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has issued a firm directive prohibiting the use of provincial roads for private functions, including wedding celebrations. This measure, detailed in an official circular from the UPTD for Road and Bridge Management, seeks to reclaim public infrastructure for its intended purpose.

The provincial government has requested cooperation from the police to widely inform the public about this new regulation. Kasat Binmas of Indramayu Police, Iptu Tasim, confirmed receipt of the circular and pledged swift action to socialize the ban. Tasim voiced support for the governor's policy, highlighting the negative impacts of blocking roads for events.

Tasim explained that closing provincial roads causes traffic congestion and poses safety risks to both motorists and event attendees. He acknowledged that such practices remain common in Indramayu. The police plan to prioritize persuasive and educational approaches, urging residents to find alternative venues like rental halls instead of disrupting public thoroughfares. The goal is to encourage a shift in public habits and ensure the unimpeded flow of traffic on provincial roads.
