As Peru approaches its 205th Independence Day celebrations, numerous municipalities across Lima have enacted mandatory flag display ordinances. This initiative requires residents, businesses, and public institutions to hoist the Peruvian flag prominently from July 15 to July 31, fostering a sense of national pride and civic engagement.

The regulations vary slightly by district, but the core mandate remains consistent: displaying the national flag is obligatory. For instance, the Cercado de Lima municipality has specified that private properties should display the flag without the national coat of arms, while public entities must use the official national flag with the emblem. The fines for non-compliance in the Cercado de Lima range from S/550 for general infractions to S/1,375 in the historic center. Misusing or altering the flag can incur penalties up to S/5,500.

Other districts, such as Los Olivos and Independencia, have also issued similar decrees, mandating flag displays throughout July to bolster patriotic fervor and national identity. San Isidro's ordinance, effective until July 31, also recommended residents enhance the district's appearance by cleaning and painting building facades. Miraflores has similarly established mandatory flag displays through a mayoral decree.
