Who's who in the ministerial cabinet of Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori?

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori has appointed her ministerial cabinet just hours after her inauguration, forming a government intended to integrate diverse right-wing tendencies. The cabinet is headed by Vice President Luis Galarreta, described as a trusted confidant and a politician with extensive experience who has earned Fujimori's trust since their parliamentary collaboration.

The appointments reflect Fujimori's strategy to consolidate support across the political spectrum. Carlos Espá, a former journalist with fifteen years at the U.S. Embassy, has been named Minister of Foreign Affairs. Elmer Cuba, who served as Fujimori's chief economic advisor in the 2016 election campaign and later on the Central Bank's board, will lead the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Other notable appointments include César Astudillo as Minister of the Interior, a former military official involved in the 1997 Japanese ambassador's residence operation. Rafael Belaúnde, grandson of former President Fernando Belaúnde Terry, takes on the Ministry of Defense. Rafael Rey, a former congressman and minister, is appointed Minister of Transport and Communications. Rogers Valencia, a businessman with prior experience as Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, returns to lead that ministry.

Further appointments include Guillermo Shinno as Minister of Energy and Mines, who previously held vice-ministerial roles in mining.
