Wike approves promotion of 3,592 FCT civil servants

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants. This decision follows the conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise overseen by the FCT Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Emeka Ezeh, the CSC Chairman, announced the approval on Wednesday, linking it to activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu's administration. He detailed that the promotion process occurred in phases, with senior officers taking exams from July 1 to 3, and junior staff on July 10. Ezeh emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the FCT Administration's commitment to staff welfare, aligning with President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda."

Ezeh commended Wike for his support, which facilitated the commission's smooth and efficient operations. He also revealed that the minister directed the CSC to begin the 2026 promotion exercise immediately. The CSC chairman urged civil servants to maintain discipline and professionalism during future exercises. He also acknowledged the cooperation of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), which contributed to the successful conduct of the 2025 promotions. Ezeh advised prospective candidates for the 2026 exercise to prepare early, reinforcing that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, competitive, and contingent on available vacancies.
