Wildfire Red Alert in Southern France; Foreign Ministry Advises Romanians

Romanian citizens heading to or currently in southeastern France face elevated wildfire risks, with local authorities issuing red and orange alerts across several departments. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has alerted Romanians to the situation, urging them to exercise caution.

The department of Bouches-du-Rhône is under the highest level of warning, a red code, while Var, Gard, Vaucluse, and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence are under orange alerts due to significant wildfire risks. The MAE strongly recommends that Romanians avoid areas where fires are ongoing or where the risk of new outbreaks is high.

Travelers are advised to strictly adhere to the instructions given by French authorities and to continuously monitor official updates regarding the evolving situation. For traffic conditions and potential travel restrictions, Romanians can consult updated information on the French authorities' website. In case of observing a fire or finding themselves in a dangerous situation, citizens can dial the emergency numbers 112 or 18.

The ministry also reminds Romanians abroad that consular support is available through the Consulate General of Romania in Marseille and provides contact numbers for various consulates across France.
