Williams sisters awarded doubles wild card for Cincinnati Open

Tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams are set to make their debut as a doubles pair at the Cincinnati Open this month, having been awarded a wild card entry. This marks their highly anticipated return to doubles action together for the first time since their appearance at the 2022 U.S. Open.

The formidable sister duo boasts an impressive record in doubles, having clinched 14 major titles, including six Wimbledon championships, and secured three Olympic gold medals. Their last competitive doubles match together was at the 2022 U.S. Open, where they were defeated in the first round. The sisters had previously withdrawn from the Wimbledon doubles draw last month, as Serena dealt with a knee injury.

Serena Williams, 44, recently made her return to Grand Slam singles after a four-year hiatus, though her comeback ended in a first-round loss at Wimbledon. Venus Williams, 46, has also received a singles wild card for the Cincinnati tournament, which runs from August 11 to 23. Their participation in Cincinnati adds significant star power to the event.
