Wind Farm Project in Şavşat Meets Local Resistance Over Environmental Concerns

A proposed wind farm project in the Yavuzköy Plateau of Şavşat, Artvin, faces strong opposition from the local community and regional associations. The İstanbul Şavşat Associations Federation has voiced significant concerns, arguing that the project fails to serve the public interest.

Mustafa Faruk Altun, the president of the federation, stated that the project's environmental impact assessment (ÇED) is inadequate. He asserted that the potential negative effects on the region have not been properly evaluated, leading to calls for a thorough reassessment.

The community's resistance highlights a growing tension between renewable energy development and local environmental protection.
