Woman Accused of Attempting to Poison Children During TikTok Live in Arequipa

Police in Arequipa, Peru, have detained a woman accused of attempting to poison her two young children, aged 10 years and 1 year, in the Cerro Colorado district.

The intervention occurred after neighbors alerted authorities to a TikTok live stream. During the broadcast, the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated and crying, was seen preparing a mixture of food with what neighbors suspected was poison. She reportedly indicated her intention to give the concoction to her children.

Concerned residents immediately contacted the National Police. Upon arrival at the residence, officers found the woman, but her children were no longer present. A neighbor had already intervened, taking the minors to safety after observing the mother's distressed state and the suspicious substance, identified as "Chica Verano," a product often used as poison or insecticide, on a table.

The detained woman has been identified as Yovana Juana Condori Quispe, 40. She remains in custody while investigations continue to determine the exact events and confirm if she intended to administer a toxic substance to the children. Police and the Public Ministry will analyze the substance found, along with other evidence from the scene, including the TikTok transmission, which was crucial in alerting authorities. The two children are safe and under protective care.
