Woman arrested for cutting off boyfriend's manhood in Kano; separate murder probe launched

Police in Kano State have arrested a 25-year-old woman suspected of cutting off her boyfriend's manhood. The incident occurred after she discovered his plan to marry another woman.

The Kano State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, stated that the suspect, from Maigatari Local Government Area in Jigawa, attacked her boyfriend with a knife. The command received a report from the management of Durbar Hotel about the incident, prompting an immediate deployment of operatives. The victim was taken to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital for treatment and is currently receiving care.

During the arrest, the weapon used in the attack, a sharp knife, was recovered as an exhibit. An investigation into the case is ongoing.

On Monday, at about 12:50pm, a report was received from the management of Durbar Hotel, Badawa, that one suspect, aged 25 years, of Maigatari LGA, Jigawa, allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a sharp knife after discovering his intention to marry another woman.

In a separate development, the command apprehended three people, including a husband and wife, in connection with the alleged murder of Abubakar Auwal. Police received a report on July 24 concerning Auwal, who was reportedly lured by two male suspects over allegations of enticing the wife of one of the suspects. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Auwal in a comatose state after a brutal assault. He was taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. The corpse has been deposited for an autopsy, and the investigation continues.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori strongly condemned both acts of violence, warning the public against taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized the Nigeria Police Force's constitutional role in investigating, arresting, and prosecuting offenders through due process.
