Woman attacked in 'Santa Muerte' chapel in Ciudad Victoria dies after reaching hospital

A woman who managed a chapel dedicated to the "Santa Muerte" died from stab wounds sustained in an attack at her home in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. Blanca López, 61, was found bleeding profusely after being assaulted in the chapel, which was situated below her second-floor residence.

Neighbors reported that López lived on the upper floor with two relatives, while the "Santuario de la Santísima Muerte" was located on the ground floor. She was reportedly attacked in the abdomen with a bladed weapon. After the assault, she managed to exit the premises, crying for help.

Initial accounts suggest that two men arrived at the location, and one of them is believed to have carried out the stabbing. López was rushed to the General Hospital in Ciudad Victoria in a private vehicle but succumbed to her injuries later that evening.

Elements from the State Attorney General's Office have secured the scene to gather evidence and identify the perpetrator. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the identity of the assailant is currently unknown.
