Woman attacked with machete by ex-partner taken to naval hospital; children receive psychological care

A violent domestic dispute in Los Mochis, Mexico, has left a 37-year-old woman with serious injuries and her children traumatized, as authorities search for her ex-partner, a former member of the Mexican Navy.

The incident occurred at the woman's home in the Praderas de Villa neighborhood. The victim, identified as Virginia 'N', sustained injuries to her body and neck from a bladed weapon during a heated argument with her ex-spouse, Abraham 'N'. Their minor children witnessed the brutal attack and alerted security and emergency services. The woman was initially treated by the Red Cross at her home before being taken to a private hospital and subsequently transferred to the Naval Hospital in Topolobampo, Ahome.

Lourdes Melisa Estavillo Zavala, the Secretary of Women in Ahome, confirmed that the couple's children are receiving psychological care. She expressed hope for the victim's recovery at the Naval Hospital and stated that officials would offer her legal support once she is able to communicate. The case is currently under investigation by the State Attorney General's Office.

Authorities are actively seeking Abraham 'N', who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the assault. His status as a former Navy member is noted as authorities from both military and naval personnel are involved in the search. The attack underscores the persistent issue of domestic violence in the region, with a particular focus on the psychological impact on children who witness such events.
