Woman detained over alleged 28 billion dong agricultural investment fraud

Police in Vietnam's Quang Ngai province have detained a 37-year-old woman accused of using promises of high agricultural profits to collect money from several people.

The provincial investigative police agency identified the suspect as Bui Thi Dieu My, who lives in Dak Ha commune. Authorities issued a decision to prosecute her as a suspect, ordered her temporary detention and searched her home in connection with an alleged property appropriation fraud offense.

According to investigators, My presented false information about agricultural trading to raise capital. Police said she initially built trust by paying principal and interest on time, then allegedly took more than 28 billion dong from multiple victims.

The case remains under expanded investigation as police compile the file for further handling. Quang Ngai police warned residents to be especially cautious about calls to contribute capital or invest in businesses promising unusually high returns without transparent legal foundations. They also urged people to report suspected fraud.
