Woman, Mother Fatally Stabbed in Dhaka; Husband Detained

A woman and her mother were brutally stabbed to death in Dhaka's Kalabagan area on Tuesday morning, with police identifying the woman's husband as the alleged perpetrator. The victims were Farzana Akhter Ratri, 21, and her mother, Firoza Begum, 40.

According to Md Fazle Ashique, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the Kitchen Goli area. Police have since detained Ratri's husband, Hridoy alias Shipon. Initial reports suggest an argument erupted between the couple. When Firoza Begum intervened to de-escalate the situation and support her daughter, the husband allegedly turned his violence on both women.

Ratri's father, Faruk Hossain, was not home at the time of the attack. He recounted receiving a call about the argument and returning to find his daughter deceased and his wife critically injured. He rushed Firoza to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff.

Both bodies have been transferred to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police confirmed that Firoza Begum sustained multiple stab wounds. The Kalabagan Police Station is actively investigating the double homicide. The motive behind the alleged attack remains under investigation, with the unfolding details pointing to a domestic dispute that tragically spiraled out of control.
