Woman ordered to repay Dhs248,052 after failing to settle loan in Al Ain

The Al Ain Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases Court has mandated a woman to reimburse a man Dhs248,052 following a dispute over an unrepaid loan. The ruling underscores the seriousness of financial obligations and contractual commitments.

The plaintiff initiated legal proceedings, asserting that the defendant owed him a substantial sum. He stated that he had transferred Dhs317,402 to her via bank transactions, but only received Dhs58,450 in partial repayment. Despite repeated requests for the outstanding balance, the woman allegedly failed to meet her obligation, leading to the court's intervention.

An accounting expert, appointed by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, was tasked with examining the financial details. The expert's analysis, based on submitted bank transfers and WhatsApp messages, determined that the defendant was liable for Dhs248,052. Notably, the court found no specific written agreements or contracts detailing the terms for these amounts between the parties involved.

Before issuing its final decision, the court required the defendant to take a supplementary oath. The plaintiff appeared at the scheduled hearing, either in person or through a representative, and affirmed his readiness to take the oath, which he subsequently did. Based on this, the court concluded that the defendant was indeed responsible for the amount claimed and ordered her to repay it, along with legal interest on the unpaid sum.
