Dubai Police nab motorcyclist speeding at over 290 km/h, doing stunts on a lark

Dubai Police have apprehended a motorcyclist who was recorded traveling at speeds exceeding 290 kilometers per hour while performing dangerous stunts. The rider was observed weaving between vehicles and riding on one wheel, demonstrating a blatant disregard for traffic laws and the safety of others.

Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that necessary legal measures have been taken. The motorcycle has been impounded, and the rider is subject to a fine of up to Dhs50,000 for its release, in addition to being referred to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings.

Moving between vehicles at this insane speed poses an extreme danger, making a collision difficult to avoid, whether by the rider or the driver of the other vehicle.

Bin Suwaidan emphasized that such actions are not merely traffic violations but represent reckless behavior that could lead to tragic accidents. He explained that at such high speeds, losing control of a motorcycle can result in skidding, leading to severe injuries, death, or permanent disabilities. He further highlighted the extreme danger of weaving between vehicles at high speeds, increasing the likelihood of unavoidable collisions.

Driving on one wheel was specifically identified as one of the most dangerous stunts, compromising the motorcycle's balance and the rider's ability to steer and brake. This significantly increases the risk of skidding or sudden swerving due to road imperfections or external factors. Dubai Police affirmed their zero-tolerance policy for such reckless behavior, noting that their smart systems and enforcement teams are effective in apprehending offenders.

Driving on one wheel is one of the most dangerous stunts, because it eliminates a large part of the motorcycle's balance and reduces the rider's ability to steer and brake, and doubles the probability of it skidding or swerving suddenly in the presence of any bump or object on the road, or when wind blows or the road surface condition changes.
