Woman seriously injured after collision with train at Böblingen crossing

A serious accident occurred at a railway crossing in Böblingen, resulting in an 86-year-old woman sustaining severe injuries after being struck by a train. The incident caused the Schönbuchbahn line to be suspended for several hours.

According to police reports, the woman was hit by the train near the Südbahnhof station. Witnesses stated that the crossing's barriers were down and red lights were flashing, indicating the train's approach, when the woman entered the tracks. The 30-year-old train driver attempted to stop by honking and applying the emergency brake but could not avoid the collision.

The injured woman was airlifted to a hospital. A school class of 21 students and two teachers were present at the platform at the time of the accident and received psychological support from emergency personnel afterward. Nineteen other individuals on the train, experiencing shock or circulatory issues, were attended to by the rescue service. The train line has since resumed service.
