Women Open Innovation event aims to boost female STEM talent

Women Open Innovation is set to host a new event designed to significantly enhance the presence and impact of female talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Nicole Verdugo, the founder of Women Open Innovation, discussed the upcoming event, emphasizing its goal to foster talent in areas like technology and artificial intelligence. Scheduled for August 5th and 6th, the initiative directly confronts historical stereotypes that have discouraged women from pursuing careers in technical disciplines. Verdugo highlighted that the program seeks to eradicate the notion that women are inherently less capable in subjects like mathematics, a belief historically instilled from a young age. The project aims to provide young female students with exposure to pioneering women in fields such as quantum computing. Verdugo stressed the crucial importance of having accessible 'role models,' stating that encountering real-life examples can transform aspirations and dissolve traditional academic barriers.
