Wong Chen: PKR awaits official statement from Johari

The PKR party is currently awaiting an official announcement from the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, concerning reports of Wong Chen's resignation as the Member of Parliament for Subang. The situation remains unclear as the party leadership seeks official confirmation.

Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, PKR's Information Chief, confirmed that the party has no additional information regarding Wong Chen's alleged actions. "I do not have information about it, so we wait for the Speaker," Fahmi told reporters at an event in Kuala Lumpur. The party leadership appears to be adopting a wait-and-see approach until the Speaker provides an official statement.

Speculation about Chen's resignation intensified after he posted a letterhead from the Subang Parliamentary Service Center addressed to the Speaker. While the letter's content was not detailed, Chen, who has represented Subang for three terms, stated on social media that he would issue a press statement on August 7 concerning the letter and his meeting with Johari. He mentioned having a lengthy discussion with Tan Sri Johari, which extended beyond the scheduled time.

Separately, Fahmi addressed rumors about the dissolution of Parliament in the near future. He asserted that the unity government would continue its term. Fahmi emphasized that the current focus for Pakatan Harapan and the unity government is on improving administration and implementing their outlined agenda to provide the best services to the people.
