World Cup Investment Plan Sparks Controversy; CONCACAF Calls for Full FIFA President Review

Following FIFA President Gianni Infantino's decision to withdraw a controversial private investment plan for the World Cup and Club World Cup, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) has demanded a "comprehensive review" of his leadership.

In a statement, CONCACAF described the recent proposal as a "unilateral and extremely poor governance and leadership failure," adding that it continued a pattern of "repeated errors and similar behavior." The confederation asserted that an immediate and thorough review of the current president's performance is urgently needed.

CONCACAF, whose members include the United States, Canada, and Mexico, welcomed the termination of the contentious proposal. The confederation joined European football governing body UEFA in criticizing Infantino's actions and questioning his suitability to lead FIFA.
