Xanana Gusmao Meets Jokowi in Solo to Discuss Jobs and Economic Development

Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao thanked Joko Widodo for inviting him to Solo, saying their meeting offered a useful chance to discuss the future of both countries.

Asked what he expected after the meeting, Gusmao replied, “Work! Work hard! Work hard!” His answer drew laughter from reporters and onlookers. He said it was his first visit to Surakarta, called the city charming, and hinted that he hoped to return. Earlier, he handed sweets to members of the media and joked, “Hold on, I am handing out candy! You know, I am the candy man!”
