Yamaha to release limited edition 7th gen CYGNUS X scooter with R1-inspired design

Yamaha is set to launch a special limited edition of its popular 7th generation CYGNUS X scooter in the Japanese market. Codenamed the "CYGNUS X SPECIAL EDITION," this exclusive model will be capped at just 800 units, reflecting its premium appeal and anticipated high demand. The scooter is slated for an August release.

The design of the special edition draws inspiration from Yamaha's flagship YZF-R1M superbike. The scooter boasts a sophisticated matte metallic gray finish, accented with striking blue and black details reminiscent of the R1M's iconic color scheme. This includes blue lines along the body and a dual-tone black finish at the rear. The wheels are also adorned with blue accents, further enhancing its sporty aesthetic. A carbon fiber trim piece on the front further elevates the scooter's aggressive and premium look.

Beyond its visual enhancements, the CYGNUS X SPECIAL EDITION incorporates several upgraded components. It features gold-painted brake calipers and bright yellow front and rear shock absorbers, adding a vibrant contrast. The seat is upholstered in a material that mimics suede, providing both enhanced grip and a touch of luxury, complemented by a carbon fiber texture on the front section. Additional details include a dedicated special edition emblem and a distinctive layered rear tail design, giving the impression of a factory-customized vehicle.

The popularity of the 7th generation CYGNUS X is evident from the strong interest in Japan. According to Yamaha dealerships, the scooter has generated significant inquiries during its pre-sale phase, with current waiting times for standard orders extending to approximately two months. The "Icon Blue" colorway, exclusive to the Japanese market, faces even longer wait times, reaching up to three months, underscoring the model's strong market reception.
