Yataity del Norte: Another suspect detained in failed armored truck heist

Paraguayan police have arrested another suspect in connection with the attempted robbery of an armored truck in Yataity del Norte. Ángel Coronel Gauto, 36, was detained on suspicion of involvement in the July 1 heist targeting a Yrendagüe company truck.

The truck was transporting a significant quantity of high-end cell phones and slimming medications when it was ambushed on Route PY08. Gauto, who resides in Yataity del Norte, faces charges including aggravated robbery in the attempt stage and other related offenses. He is currently held at the Santaní police station pending further investigation.

This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by the National Police to identify and apprehend all members of the criminal group responsible for the attack. Authorities have previously detained other individuals suspected of participating in the robbery. The investigation also involves the seizure of the stolen goods, some of which were recovered after the perpetrators were forced to abandon them during a police intervention.
