Yayasan Amanah Commemorates National Children's Day, Emphasizing Every Child's Uniqueness

In Banda Aceh, the Yayasan Amanah Poppy Amalya foundation marked Indonesia's National Children's Day 2026 by highlighting the unique potential within every child, with a particular focus on those with special needs. The foundation underscored the critical need to provide equal opportunities for all children to foster their growth and development according to their individual abilities.

Hema Sunarja, Head of Therapy Services at the foundation, stated that every child possesses their own dreams and that no child is a failure, but rather they develop in different ways. The foundation consistently holds events for National Children's Day, but this year's internal celebration with their students was themed "Every Child is Special, Every Dream is Precious."

All children have their own dreams. According to him, no child fails, but they have different ways of developing, whether in learning, playing, or education.

This theme was chosen to reinforce the message that all children have the same rights to grow and develop, regardless of their circumstances. The Humaira Special Needs Center, run by the foundation, currently assists approximately 95 children, the majority of whom have special needs. The center provides therapies for children with autism, ADHD, speech delays, sensory processing disorders, and other developmental challenges. Services include sensory integration therapy, behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and education.

Beyond specialized services, the foundation also offers programs for the general public, such as literacy and numeracy classes, tutoring, and dance workshops. Sunarja expressed hope that the commemoration would encourage greater societal acceptance of children with special needs, creating more inclusive spaces for interaction and potential development. The foundation also appealed to the Aceh government to increase support for children with special needs through improved therapy facilities and equipment, as well as enhanced training for therapists.
