Yellow alert issued for heavy rains across Mexico City; hail possible

Mexico City authorities have activated a yellow alert across all boroughs due to the forecast of heavy rains and the possibility of hail. The alert is in effect from late afternoon through the evening of Friday, August 28.

Between 4:40 PM and 11:00 PM, the city can expect rainfall between 15 and 29 millimeters, accompanied by the potential for hail. This weather advisory aims to prepare residents for the expected downpour and its associated hazards.

The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has provided several recommendations for the public. These include carrying umbrellas or raincoats, using water for plants, and clearing debris from drains to prevent blockages. Residents are also urged to avoid areas with significant water accumulation or flooding.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution, as fallen trees or debris carried by the water may obstruct roads. The SGIRPC also recommends staying clear of structures like walls, trees, and power lines that appear to be at risk of falling due to the weather conditions.
