Yellow Alert issued for heavy rains and hail in five Mexico City boroughs

Mexico City's Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has activated a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall and potential hail across five boroughs of the capital. The alert is in effect for Saturday evening, from 7:20 PM to 10:00 PM.

The affected boroughs are Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa de Morelos, La Magdalena Contreras, and Tlalpan. These areas are expected to experience rainfall between 15 and 29 millimeters, accompanied by hail.

Civil Protection has issued several recommendations for the public. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas or raincoats and to avoid throwing grease or trash into the drainage system. They are also urged to clear gutters and keep them free of obstructions. Driving with caution is advised due to potential debris like fallen trees or objects washed away by water.

Furthermore, people should stay away from areas near walls, trees, power lines, and billboards that appear to be at risk of falling. The SGIRPC encourages residents to stay informed through their official social media channels and website for any updates or emergencies.
