Yellow Alert Issued for Storms and Snow Across Argentina

Argentina's National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued yellow alerts for severe weather, including storms and snow, across several provinces for Tuesday, August 4. This level of warning signifies the possibility of meteorological phenomena capable of causing damage and temporarily disrupting daily life.

Provinces in the northeast, Corrientes, Chaco, and Formosa, are bracing for storms of varying intensity, some potentially strong. These could bring gusty winds, hail, heavy short-term rainfall, and intense electrical activity. The SMN forecasts accumulated rainfall between 40 and 80 millimeters, with potential for higher amounts in specific areas. Residents are advised to avoid going outside, secure trash, and keep drains clear. They should also close windows and doors, secure loose objects, and seek immediate shelter if outdoors.

Meanwhile, the northwestern region of Chubut and western Río Negro will experience yellow alerts for persistent snowfall. Accumulations are expected to range from 20 to 50 centimeters, possibly exceeding these figures in certain locations. Mixed precipitation, including rain, and strong winds are also anticipated. The SMN recommends avoiding travel unless necessary and using vehicles equipped for icy conditions. Checking roofs and gutters, ensuring proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, and having emergency supplies are also advised.

In Buenos Aires city, Tuesday's forecast includes a maximum temperature of 15°C and a minimum of 12°C, with morning and evening fog and a mostly cloudy afternoon. Precipitation probability is low at 10% during the early hours. Similar foggy conditions are expected to persist into Wednesday, with rain forecast for Thursday. The province of Buenos Aires will see similar temperatures and fog, with storms predicted for Thursday.
