YENİ Parti to Vote Yes on 'Framework Law' Despite Public Criticism

Despite public backlash, the YENİ Parti (New Party) has decided to vote in favor of the "Framework Law" during the general assembly. The bill, jointly submitted by the AKP, MHP, and DEM Party and also signed by CHP, HÜDA PAR, and YENİ Parti, was approved by the Grand National Assembly's Justice Commission.

Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu, Vice Chair of YENİ Parti, announced the party's decision on Halk TV, stating they would vote "yes" in the general assembly, acknowledging the widespread public criticism. She confirmed the party had also voted yes during the commission's discussions.

Kayışoğlu emphasized that the party's support for the law should be viewed alongside their demands for democratization. "We already voted yes in the commission," she said. "In the report, we stated that this law should pass, but at the same time, the democratization process must also take place." She added, "We continue this work, this struggle. Similarly, we say, let the weapons be laid down, but at the same time, let's pass the trustee regulation, implement the ECtHR and Constitutional Court decisions, and bring about democratization. Let's end this injustice entirely."

The "Framework Law" is expected to be on the general assembly's agenda on Monday, August 10.
