Yonsei University Holds 2026 August Graduation Ceremony

Yonsei University marked its August 2026 graduation ceremony on Friday, August 28, at its outdoor theater. A total of 3,823 graduates received their degrees, including 1,578 bachelor's, 1,771 master's, and 469 doctoral degrees, along with five research program graduates.

The ceremony was attended by President Yoon Dong-sup, Chairman Huh Dong-soo, Alumni Association President Lee Kyung-ryul, faculty, alumni, graduates, and their families. President Yoon addressed the graduates, stating that a degree is not merely a qualification but a milestone signifying readiness to forge their own paths in a wider world.

A good life is not necessarily the same as a successful life. A good life is one that goes beyond your own achievements to empower the lives of others and lead the community you belong to in a better direction.

He urged graduates to strive for a "good life," defining it not by personal achievement alone, but by a life that empowers others and leads their communities toward betterment. "The value of a life of deep thinking, continuous learning, and putting knowledge into practice remains unchanged, even in an era of rapid change marked by artificial intelligence, climate crisis, and demographic shifts," Yoon said. He expressed hope that graduates would remember the values and spirit learned at Yonsei and that their lives would offer opportunities and hope to others.

Alumni Association President Lee Kyung-ryul congratulated the graduates on embarking on new journeys under the Yonsei banner, encouraging them to move forward with pride as Yonsei alumni. The ceremony followed a traditional format, including a national anthem, prayer, scripture reading, presidential address, congratulatory speeches, degree conferral, celebratory music, and the singing of the school song. Graduates captured memories of their special day with family and friends around campus.
