Young Croatian soldiers complete intensive specialized military training

A new generation of professional soldiers is emerging in Croatia, having successfully completed specialized military training. The intensive eight-week program, held at the 'Gašinci' military training ground from June 1 to July 28, 2026, saw 115 young men and women hone their skills for future military specializations.

This year's training marked the implementation of a new, more concentrated curriculum. While shorter than the previous twelve-week program, it is significantly more intensive, incorporating advanced elements of modern warfare. This includes infantry tactics, armored and mechanized forces operations, mortar support, and crucially, the use of unmanned systems (drones).

Major Marko Vidaković, who coordinated the training, highlighted the complexity of the final tactical exercise. It simulated both defensive and offensive operations, involving infantry, armored units, mortar support, and anti-armor capabilities. Soldiers like Ivo Aščić and Marin Franko Buzdovačić expressed high motivation and satisfaction with the training. Aščić, from Velika Peratovića, stated, "The specialized military training is exactly as I expected. It's more intense, with more work, more weapons used, and that's precisely what I wanted." He is eager to join the elite "Tigrovi" unit. Buzdovačić, training as a machine gunner, described the course as "very interesting and well-organized."

The training aims to equip soldiers with the skills needed to respond to the challenges of modern warfare, ensuring the Croatian Armed Forces are prepared for contemporary security demands. The enthusiasm and professionalism displayed by the young recruits suggest a promising future for the nation's defense capabilities.
