Young Garuda Pertiwi Players Thank PSSI, Erick Thohir for International Experience

Young players from the Indonesian Garuda Pertiwi U-17 women's football team have gained valuable international experience through recent training camps in France and participation in the Srikandi Merdeka Cup 2026 held in Kudus, Central Java. The team underwent a training camp at the National Football Centre Clairefontaine in France from May 3-9, 2026. Following this, they competed in the Srikandi Merdeka Cup, which featured teams from various countries. Although Garuda Pertiwi U-17 did not win the cup, their journey to the final allowed them to play five matches over 10 days against opponents with distinct playing styles. Goalkeeper Alleana Ayu Arumy highlighted the significance of these opportunities for the development of women's football in Indonesia. She extended her thanks to the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) and its chairman, Erick Thohir, as well as PSSI Exco member Vivin Cahyani Sungkono, for their support. Shifana Nadhifa echoed these sentiments, appreciating the chances given to young female players for international activities and matches. She expressed a desire for more training centers, competitions, and international opportunities for Indonesian women's football. Nafeeza Ayasha Nori found the training in Paris beneficial for her game, stating she learned many new things applicable to team matches. Kesya Arabela Manisya Nian described the French training camp as a crucial experience, emphasizing its value as not all players receive such opportunities. Jazlyn Kayla Firyal and Jezlyn Kayla Azkha also conveyed their happiness at the increased attention and opportunities for Indonesian female footballers, hoping for continued international competitions to enhance their skills and experience. Jezlyn specifically noted the Srikandi Cup's role in player development.
