Young man accused of stealing over RD$5 million from villa

Dominican police have recovered a portion of the valuables stolen from a villa in Jarabacoa, La Vega, with the total loss estimated to exceed RD$5 million. The Directorate of Central Investigations (Dicrim) announced that a young man, who was allegedly tasked with guarding the property while the owners were out of the country, is now in custody.

According to investigative findings, the suspect has admitted to his involvement in the theft and provided details that have aided authorities in recovering some of the stolen items. The owners reportedly discovered the extent of the loss upon their return.

Dicrim is continuing its investigation, conducting searches and other inquiries to locate the remaining stolen goods. The probe also aims to identify any other individuals who may have participated in the crime and to clarify the circumstances under which the items were removed from the villa. The identities of the owners and a detailed inventory of recovered items have not yet been released.
