Young man fatally shot in Montevideo barbershop; police investigate motive

Montevideo is grappling with another homicide after a 21-year-old man was killed in a barbershop in the Cerro neighborhood on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Camino Sanfuentes and Los Teros, where police discovered numerous bullet casings at the scene. According to initial reports confirmed by Montevideo Police sources, two individuals on a motorcycle arrived at the location and allegedly fired around 20 shots, striking the victim multiple times. The young man, who had no prior criminal record, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are actively investigating the motive behind the shooting. Family members of the victim told Telemundo that he had recently been threatened after confronting individuals who were attempting to steal animals from his property. He had also reportedly mentioned to the barber attending him that he had been pursued by a motorcycle just hours before the attack. Detectives from the Homicide Department and forensic teams are currently working at the crime scene to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
