Young man injured after falling into unsecured Mladenovac hole; appeal delays safety measures

A young man suffered injuries after falling into an unsecured, two-meter-deep basement hole in the center of Mladenovac earlier this month. The incident occurred because the opening, located near a residential building, was not secured. The man recounted that he did not see the hole as he was walking towards his parked car after visiting a bakery. He fell into trash that filled the bottom of the hole, which he believes prevented more serious injuries, though his leg became trapped. He later sought medical attention and was fitted with a cast on his leg. Municipal authorities had ordered the building's residents to secure the opening with a grate. However, an appeal was filed against this order, leaving the hole still unprotected and without any warning signs. The case is now with the Belgrade City Administration for a decision on the appeal, with the hole remaining a hazard.
