Youngest White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt to step down

Karoline Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary, is set to leave her post at the end of August, President Donald Trump announced Wednesday. Leavitt, 28, recently returned to the White House after taking a brief leave for the birth of her second child in May.

Trump described Leavitt, who also served as a press aide during his previous term, as one of his "most trusted aides." In a social media post, he stated that Leavitt "will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!"

Leavitt has been a prominent advocate for Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement. Following her departure from the White House, she is expected to take on a new role as one of Trump's top outside advisors. The president indicated that she will also serve as an "influential voice within the Republican Party" as they prepare for the upcoming midterm elections.
