Yudha's Quarter-Final Fury: Satria Muda Defeats Hangtuah to Reach IBL Semifinals

Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung has become the first team to advance to the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) GoPay 2026 semifinals, clinching their spot with a hard-fought 105-100 victory over Hangtuah Jakarta.

The win in the second playoff game, held at Bandung Arena on Wednesday night, sealed a 2-0 aggregate triumph for Satria Muda over Hangtuah. Their initial victory came with a 96-80 scoreline in the first game at GOR Ciracas, Jakarta Timur, on Saturday.

However, Satria Muda's path to the semifinals was far from easy. Hangtuah Jakarta came out aggressively from the first quarter, capitalizing on defensive miscommunications by the home team to take a 30-25 lead by the end of the period. The visiting team even extended their advantage to nine points midway through the second quarter.

Satria Muda gradually found their rhythm, with three-point shots from Yudha Saputera, Niven Glover, and Sandy Ibrahim igniting a comeback. Their shooting accuracy and tempo increased dramatically towards the end of the second quarter. After tying the score at 47-47, they surged ahead to a 60-55 lead by halftime.

The third quarter remained intense, with both teams raising the stakes through blocks and steals, heating up the atmosphere in Bandung Arena. Hangtuah refused to back down, and a buzzer-beating shot by Nicholas Hornsby gave them a narrow 77-76 lead at the end of the third quarter, setting the stage for a potential deciding game.
