"Yufeng" Training Ship Kicks Off Island-Wide Educational Tour, Visiting Four Major Ports August 1-12

The "Yufeng" training ship, utilized for maritime education by universities, is set to embark on a six-day educational tour across Taiwan's major ports. Organized jointly by National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Ocean University, and the Taiwan Maritime Education Center, the "Sail Around Taiwan, Learn About the Ocean Together" campaign will see the ship dock at Kaohsiung, Taichung, Keelung, and Hualien ports. The public will have the opportunity to visit the ship and learn about maritime education, the shipping industry, and the realities of working at sea.

The tour officially began on August 1st with a launch ceremony at Kaohsiung Port. The event was inaugurated by Zhang Boyan, Director of the Southern Branch of the Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation, and Ou Suwen, Chief Secretary of the Kaohsiung City Education Bureau, alongside the Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology team. Following the ceremony, the first group of visitors boarded the ship, marking the start of the island-wide educational campaign.

During its tour, the "Yufeng" will be open for static visits at Kaohsiung Port from August 1st to 2nd, Taichung Port from August 5th to 6th, Keelung Port from August 8th to 9th, and Hualien Port from August 11th to 12th. Professional crew members will guide visitors through the ship, including the bridge, crew living quarters, and various equipment. This immersive experience aims to provide a deeper understanding of maritime education, navigation technology, and the significance of the shipping industry, extending marine education beyond the classroom into a practical, sea-based environment.
