Zamfara Governor receives Pan-African Leadership Award in Ghana

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has been honored with the ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award in Accra, Ghana. The award ceremony, held on Friday at the British Council, recognized his administration's notable achievements over the past three years, particularly in public sector leadership and economic reforms.

This award is dedicated to all the people of Zamfara State. My administration has been working tirelessly to ensure the state can compete with any other in Nigeria. That was our promise, and we have surpassed expectations in just three years.

The 7th ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award ceremony centered on the theme, “Leadership, Peace, and Regional Integration: Advancing Africa’s Development in a Changing Global Order.” The award's board and governing council specifically cited Governor Lawal's significant progress in transforming Zamfara State.

Upon receiving the award, Governor Lawal expressed his gratitude and commitment to further efforts in rescuing and rebuilding Zamfara. He dedicated the award to the citizens of the state, emphasizing his administration's promise to make Zamfara competitive within Nigeria, a goal he believes they have surpassed in just three years.

My administration has transformed Zamfara through urban renewal initiatives; we constructed a modern, state-of-the-art airport, something that had not existed for over 30 years since the state’s founding.

He also noted substantial strides made in security, civil service reform, education, and healthcare sectors.

Governor Lawal stated that the award serves as a significant motivator to continue his work for the people of Zamfara, asserting that the state is on an upward trajectory. Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, was also among the dignitaries recognized at the event for his contributions to public service and sustainable development.
