Zapatista Army prepares to visit Mexico City to support missing persons' search

The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) is preparing a delegation to visit Mexico City in December, with a primary objective of meeting with groups actively searching for missing persons. The EZLN stated that this encounter is not merely for listening to their demands for truth and justice, but to offer the collective embrace of Zapatista communities and express profound admiration, respect, and affection.

Subcommander "Moisés" highlighted in a statement that the EZLN considers the movement of those searching for the disappeared to be "the most important, most dignified, heroic, and consistent movement of these times in Mexico and Central America." He emphasized their resilience in the face of adversity, refusing to abandon their search for loved ones.

Beyond supporting the search groups, the EZLN also plans to convene with organizations of the "Sexta" (Sixth Movement) in and around Mexico City. These meetings aim to coordinate activities and explore possibilities for a second phase of their "Gira por la Vida" (Tour for Life). The EZLN believes these gatherings could help relaunch the Sixth Movement across the nation.

To facilitate these meetings, the EZLN has requested assistance from the Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas Human Rights Center, along with the "Todos los Derechos para Todos y Todas" (All Rights for All) network and various other human rights NGOs. The Frayba center has agreed to help organize these encounters and has opened a dedicated email address for search groups to propose meeting dates in December and indicate any needs for accommodation or food. The EZLN delegation has expressed readiness to share resources if necessary.
