Zelensky: Ukraine hits Russian ships carrying weapons to Iran; deadly strikes reported across Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian forces conducted a "long-range" strike targeting Russian ships in the Caspian Sea. These vessels were reportedly transporting weapons intended for Iran. Zelensky shared this information via a post on X, also noting other Russian objectives that were hit by Ukraine's "long-range sanctions" over the past day.

In parallel, the conflict's toll continues. At least three people died in Sumy, in northeastern Ukraine, following a significant Russian attack that ignited fires across various areas. The State Emergency Service reported that civilian infrastructure and residential building vicinities were targeted. Rescuers faced challenging conditions, having to pause operations due to the constant threat of further bombardment.

Oleh Hryhorov, the governor of Sumy Oblast, later clarified that a Russian drone strike on the city killed three drivers from the Nova Post company. Separately, in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, a Russian attack claimed one life and injured two others, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, the governor of Kherson Oblast. Prokudin stated that the strikes hit the city's central and Korabelnyi districts, with the fatality being a 47-year-old man in a residential building.

Adding to the casualties, Russian authorities reported that Ukrainian raids on the Russian-occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region resulted in at least eight deaths, including two children. The governor of the region cited by the Russian agency Tass stated that a recreational area was hit.
