Zelenskyy again expects Witkoff and Kushner to visit Kyiv ‘in the coming days’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had told him they would return to Moscow and travel to Kyiv for the first time “in the coming days.”

“We expect to see the president of the United States’ envoys here in Kyiv. They have confirmed that they will hold one meeting in Moscow and another in Kyiv. We hope that the latter, in Kyiv, will take place in the coming days,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address.

Ukraine has been asking Witkoff and Kushner for months to visit the capital. The two negotiators appointed by President Donald Trump to help end the war have repeatedly traveled to Moscow but have not yet visited Kyiv, a situation Ukraine considers an affront. Previous announcements of agreements for a Kyiv visit also failed to produce a trip.

Civilian flights do not operate in Ukraine because of the war, so the envoys would need to travel to Kyiv by train or road. Ukraine and the United States have offered Russian President Vladimir Putin a three-way meeting with Zelenskyy and Trump to discuss the terms for ending the war. The Kremlin has so far rejected the proposal and has also refused Kyiv’s call for an immediate ceasefire to support negotiations backed by Washington.
