Zelenskyy Replaces Top Military Leaders Amid War Tensions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed the nation's top military leaders, citing unmanageable tensions between them that hindered crucial decision-making during the ongoing war with Russia. Zelenskyy explained that he had no time for prolonged disputes, stating, "I don't have time to listen to one side, then the other side, when the two sides are not even willing to sit at the same table." He stressed the importance of seamless military operations without internal conflicts, especially given the scale of the Russian invasion.

The reshuffle comes after a period of unrest, including protests against the removal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. Fedorov was widely seen as the architect of Ukraine's successful drone strategy, which has become a significant advantage for the armed forces. The president appointed Mykhailo Drapatyi, formerly commander of the Joint Forces Group, as the new commander-in-chief.

Zelenskyy insisted that the primary challenge for Ukraine remains maintaining troop presence on the front lines, particularly ahead of the winter campaign. He warned that relying solely on drones would lead to territorial losses, stating, "If you don't have soldiers at the front, if they are retreating, or if you think you can wage war only with drones, you will lose. The enemy is advancing, and without soldiers, you will lose first a village, then a city." He underscored that technological advancements cannot fully replace the need for ground troops.
