2027: Kebbi Governor Picks New Running Mate

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has announced Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, replacing the current Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu. The announcement came during a thank-you visit by stakeholders from the Argungu Emirate in Birnin Kebbi.

The present Deputy Governor was dropped as the running mate to Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for the 2027 general election based on professional legal advice.

Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, the National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), explained that the change was based on professional legal advice concerning the incumbent deputy governor's eligibility. He stressed that the decision was reached with Senator Arugungu's understanding and consent, asserting that there is no discord between the governor and his deputy.

Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the Argungu Emirate for their support and highlighted his administration's achievements. He reiterated that the change in running mate was necessitated by legal considerations and made with the deputy governor's full understanding. The governor urged party members and supporters to remain united and work towards the APC's success in the 2027 elections.
