21-Year-Old Arrested in Vietnam for ATM Card Theft and Fraud

In Ninh Châu commune, Quảng Trị province, authorities have apprehended a 21-year-old man, Võ Sơn Lâm, for a series of ATM card thefts and subsequent withdrawals that amounted to a significant sum. On May 9, information from Ninh Châu Commune Police stated that Quảng Trị Provincial Police had initiated a case, indicted the defendant, and issued an arrest warrant for Võ Sơn Lâm (21 years old, residing in Hòa Bình village, Ninh Châu commune) to investigate the act of property theft.

According to reports, Lâm repeatedly stole ATM cards belonging to a 45-year-old woman. He then exploited simple, easily guessable passwords to access her accounts and withdraw funds. The total amount stolen reached 48.49 million Vietnamese dong. This case is particularly concerning as Lâm is a repeat offender, having two previous convictions for property theft, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior.
