251-foot Tricolour Kanwar steels the spotlight during Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar

A striking display of patriotism is unfolding during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar, as devotees transport a colossal 251-foot-long Tricolour Kanwar from Haridwar to Baghpat. This massive, flag-themed structure has become a focal point, capturing widespread attention and embodying the pilgrims' patriotic spirit.

The unique Kanwar, meticulously crafted and carried by about a dozen devotees from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, began its journey after collecting holy Ganga water from Har Ki Pauri. Beyond its visual impact, the Kanwar carries a significant message, with the devotees actively urging the nation's youth to abstain from drugs and harmful substances. This initiative aims to leverage the spiritual journey for social good, promoting a healthier lifestyle among young people.

Patriotism is in our blood. There was great support on the way from the Uttarakhand police and the local Shiva devotees here. It is very good. We received a lot of love from Shiva devotees here and the people of Uttarakhand. It is great.

As the number of Kanwariyas converging on Haridwar continues to swell, the procession is further enhanced by colorful religious tableaux and innovative Kanwars. The group behind the Tricolour Kanwar specifically dedicated their effort to the pride of the nation and the sacrifices of India's martyrs. They appealed for national unity and cautioned against divisive influences, reinforcing a message of solidarity.

Speaking to ANI, Kanwariya Harendra Kumar described the Kanwar's dimensions, 251 feet in length and over 11 feet in height, and shared his group's 200 km journey. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the Uttarakhand police and local Shiva devotees, noting the warmth and hospitality encountered. Another participant, Deepak Chaudhary, emphasized the Tricolour's symbolic message to the youth, contrasting it with instances of drug and alcohol use observed during the pilgrimage. He highlighted the positive impact of the national flag's presence and mentioned facing some minor harassment from police in cities during their stops.

The tricolour is the national flag of the country. It sends a message to the youth. Everyone brings the Kanwar and we respect all Shiva devotees. But we saw some people smoking drugs and drinking alcohol there. Seeing the tricolor will have a positive effect.
