26 Methamphetamine Capsules Found in Suspect's Stomach at Istanbul Airport

Airport security in Istanbul apprehended an Iranian national after observing suspicious movements and difficulty walking, leading to the discovery of a significant drug smuggling attempt. The individual, identified as F.J., 51, arrived in Turkey from Iran on June 27.

During a risk analysis and physical surveillance at Istanbul Airport, F.J.'s behavior raised concerns among the anti-narcotics crime unit. Suspecting that the individual was carrying drugs internally, law enforcement officers promptly sent F.J. to a hospital for medical examination and intervention.

Medical procedures revealed that F.J. had concealed 26 capsules within his stomach. These capsules contained a total of 380 grams of methamphetamine, a potent synthetic stimulant. The successful seizure marks another effort by Turkish authorities to combat drug trafficking through its major international transit hub.

Following his arrest and the confiscation of the drugs, F.J. underwent questioning at the police station. He was later brought before a court on July 7, where he was formally charged and subsequently remanded in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
